"One of the Philadelphia Flyers big offseason moves hasn't worked out how they had hoped. That is the acquisition of Ryan Ellis on defense. Ellis has only played in 4 games this season and while he registered 5 points in those 4 games, general manager Chuck Fletcher was obviously hoping for more than 4 games worth of action. Every time things have looked like they're trending upwards they've fallen apart. That seems to be the case once against. Interim head coach Mike Yeo told reporters that Ellis has cleared COVID protocol but he'll be sidelined for awhile. Yeo revealed that Ellis really hasn't made any progress in his rehab and there's no timetable for his return. Ellis has become frustrated with the situation which is understandable. He'll have a chance to rebound next season as the 31 year old is signed through the 2026-27 season with an AAV of $6.25million.
Yeo says that Ryan Ellis is indeed out of COVID protocol, but Yeo says still no specific timeline for his return. Says they miss him a lot, and that it's been a real frustrating time for Ellis. Admits he's not making a lot of progress. Hopes that changes soon.
