"The Philadelphia Flyers continue their search for a new head coach. Some of the top candidates have already been hired and the Flyers position remains open. One theory is that the Flyers are waiting to see how the playoffs unfold and want to grab whoever gets fired. Another theory is that the Flyers were ""all in"" on Joel Quenneville however he strummed them along and went with the Florida Panthers as soon as the opportunity became available. According to one report, the Flyers have already asked for permission to speak with Alain Vigneault before he heads to Europe for the IIHF World Championships. While coaches with NHL experience seem to be the preferred answer, the Flyers might look at somebody with none. According to Jamey Baskow of the phillysportsnetwork, the Flyers are seriously interested in NCAA coach Scott Sandelin. It's a risky choice considering how the Dave Hakstol experiment worked out. Would you be willing to roll the dice on another NCAA coach?
So apparently Scott Sandelin has emerged as a serious candidate for the #Flyers Head Coaching vacancy. He could win another National Championship today. However, I hope the Flyers steer clear of a college coach. We have been down this route before, and so have the Eagles.
