"Philadelphia Flyers general manager Ron Hextall stated late last week that he doesn't expect to hand out any huge contracts to free agents during the summer. While he might not like the free agent market, he does have to look at one of his own players who's eligible for an extension July 1st, Wayne Simmonds. Simmonds has been a warrior for the Flyers during his stay in Philly and has earned a payday, but are the Flyers willing to give it up?NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman recently pointed out that Simmonds will likely be looking for a TJ Oshie type contract, and recently updated that noting that Oshie and Simmonds have the same agent. "I wrote about the comparable with him and T.J. Oshie, and when I wrote it I completely forgot that T.J. Oshie and Wayne Simmonds are represented by the same people. So you look at that Oshie deal eight years, 5.75 I wonder if that's what Simmonds is going to kind of take a look at. "I don't know if Philly is going to do that, but it worked for Washington and I wonder if Philly is going to consider something like that for Simmonds."What do you think of Friedman's comments? "
