The Philadelphia Flyers and general manager Chuck Fletcher stayed pretty quiet during the offseason.
Fletcher made it clear he wouldn't be making a big splash in free agency but would consider the trade market, unfortunately he wasn't able to pull off any deals. The team needs some help on defense and Fletcher is still analyzing the trade market and it seems he might have found a fit. It's no secret that the Nashville Predators are looking to move some players and contracts out and one of those on the way out is expected to be defenseman Mattias Ekholm. According to NHLTradeRumors, the Flyers are in the mix and the cost to land Ekholm will likely be the same as the Toronto Maple Leafs paid for Jake Muzzin. That means a first round pick along with a young player and a prospect. It's more than likely the package would be centered around the Flyers first round pick along with young forward Joel Farabee. Ekholm would be able to step right into the lineup and make an immediate impact and only carries a $3.75million cap hit next season before becoming a free agent before becoming a free agent in 2022. Would you be willing to give this up for Ekholm?
