The hope was, Philadelphia Flyers defensive prospect Samuel Morin would get over his leg injury and hopefully join the Flyers roster at the start of next season. Unfortunately now we're not even sure Morin will play the 2018-19 season. Morin's knee injury suffered while playing for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the playoffs has been confirmed as an ACL tear in his right knee. Flyers GM Ron Hextall confirmed that Morin will be out until at least February. What made things worse was that Morin had another issue in his knee and wasn't able to have the surgery immediately. While many Flyers fans have labeled Morin as a soon to be injury bust, Hextall believes that's far form the case. "People tend to forget that Sam's been a healthy player for the most part in his career prior to that," Hextall told the Courier-Post."We're writing this off as — he had a tough year, there's no doubt about it in terms of the injuries. We don't think any less of Sam than we did in September of last year. We still have high hopes for Sam and we know he's gonna turn into a good player for us."Hopefully Morin takes as much time as he needs, even if it's for the full season, so that he can become the Flyers defensive staple we were all hoping for when he was drafted.
