"The Philadelphia Flyers were back on the practice ice today after their 6-4 win over the New York Islanders as they prepare for back-to-back games versus the St. Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres over the weekend.
Based on the way the team lined up today, Tyrell Goulbourne will make his NHL debut tomorrow against the Blues on the fourth line in place of Dale Weise. We would have likely seen him in that spot last night, but Goulbourne had four flights cancelled on him as he tried to get to Philadelphia from Toronto and missed the game.
"It's always nice to get rewarded," Goulbourne said today, per Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post. "I didn't know if my time was now, but this is what I've been working for. I'm proud of myself and excited to be here. There was a lot of people that helped me out this year and there's a lot of guys that could be here instead of me."
Goulbourne actually spent more time in the ECHL than the AHL last season and now he has made his way up to the Flyers.
"It's all been consistency," he said. "My first year I'd have a really good game, disappear for a week. It happened last year. From the start of this year, I knew I had to change. It's the last year of my contract and I wasn't going in the right direction. I changed my whole mindset up and I've been consistent. That's exactly what they told me to do.""
