"We might see a move that could end up being the equivalent of two NHL teams trading general managers. The Minnesota Wild have asked the Philadelphia Flyers permission to speak with Ron Hextall about their vacant GM spot. This could end up being quite the funny situation. Hextall was fired by the Flyers last season and eventually replaced by Chuck Fletcher who was fired by the Minnesota Wild. Fletcher's replacement, Paul Fenton, was fired by the Wild this week and now Hextall could step in and replace him. Overall Hextall did a pretty good job with the Flyers, especially when it came to retooling the Flyers prospect system, he was eventually fired for his refusal to call up Carter Hart and trade Wayne Simmonds amongst a couple of other things.
Have to think there will be more than one contender, but word is MIN has already reached out for permission to speak to Ron Hextall for newly vacant GM position. — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) July 30, 2019
