The Philadelphia Flyers are gearing up for an important event in their offseason calendar: the 2024 NHL draft lottery, where they hold two first-round selections.

Set to take place on Tuesday, May 7, in Secaucus, New Jersey, the draft lottery will determine the position of the Flyers' top overall pick. ESPN will provide coverage of the event, with the start time to be announced next week.
After a challenging 2023-24 season that saw the Flyers miss out on the playoffs after losing nine of their last 11 games, they are currently slated to draft at No. 12 overall. However, their fate could change depending on the lottery results.
With a 2.5 percent chance of securing the first overall pick, the Flyers are in contention, although they cannot clinch the top spot due to recent modifications in the lottery format. The league now restricts the first overall pick to the top 11 seeds, limiting the Flyers' potential to jump only 10 spots, maxing out at No. 2.
Despite the slim odds of landing a higher pick, the Flyers are prepared for various outcomes. Tankathon.com breaks down their probabilities for each potential pick, with No. 12 being the most likely scenario.
Currently, the Flyers boast 10 selections in the upcoming draft, set to take place on June 28-29 in Las Vegas. Last year, they made 10 picks, with standout prospect Matvei Michkov headlining their draft class as the seventh overall selection.
While the Flyers haven't had a top-three pick since 2017, when they selected Nolan Patrick at No. 2 overall, they remain optimistic about their future prospects. As they await the draft lottery results, the Flyers are focused on making the most of their selections to bolster their roster for the seasons to come.
