The Philadelphia Flyers season is about to end and it appears there will be no playoffs for the Flyers for the 4th straight year. There is a lot of reasons for the Flyers collapse, but one of the issues that been affecting them all year is their powerplay. The Flyers have the worst powerplay in the NHL, which led to some close losses throughout the year.

"Listen you're not going to win games this time of year with a bad powerplay, they don't have to have the greatest PP, but it's really bad.

That should be the first order of business this offseason. I like the addition of Oskar Eklind for this very reason, but he's not enough."
If the Flyers want to compete next year, they clearly need help in net and on defense, but they also need to improve their power play desperately, it is honestly a surprise that the Flyers held onto a playoff spot for so long with such an abysmal power play. The Flyers did add Oskar Eklind for next year, who was second on his team in Sweden in power play goals with 6. He also a great net presence as he is 6'4" and 220 pounds.
However, the Flyers need to add more in order to have at least a decent power play. They could look for a puck moving defenseman to improve it but there is also top free agents on offense, like Steven Stamkos, as it appears that his time in Tampa may be coming to an end due to cap implications. The Flyers have made it clear that they want to build through the draft, so signing big name players like Stamkos is unlikely. However, the Flyers have several players on the power play, that should not be on it, and this must change if they want to complete for the playoffs next year.
