The Toronto Maple Leafs season just ended as they had another first round exit. They lost to the Boston Bruins in seven games after they forced a game 7 as they were down 3-1 in the series. With their season over, it appears that Mitch Marner may be on the move. Mitch Marner has a $10.9 million cap hit and with William Nylander and Auston Matthews long term extension kicking in next season, Mitch Marner may be the odd man out.

If Mitch Marner is on the trade block the Flyers should be working the phones.

Mitch Marner will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2024-2025 season, so a team trading for him, may want an extension in place prior to trading for him. Would it make sense for the Flyers to pursue him? Now, the Flyers have the assets to trade for him, and it may be worth it since Mitch Marner is still only 26 years old and could potentially be a 100-point scorer. However, his $10.9 million cap hit is a massive cap hit and Danny Briere has made it clear, that they don't want to trade draft picks and young prospects.
This past season, Mitch Marner had 26 goals, 59 assists for 85 points in 69 games. Marner career high in goals is 35 and career high in points is 99. Marner would clearly be the best forward on the Flyers if they did make this trade, however a 1-year rental may be too much for Danny Briere and the Flyers.
