The Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim had an average season in 2022-2023 and was going to be traded in that offseason, if it was not for a no trade clause. However, in 2023-2024, Travis Sanheim had a career year and proved to be a number one defenseman.

Travis Sanheim rebounded in a big way for the Flyers "We're gonna miss each other. We love that group in there."

This was needed for the Flyers as former Flyer's defenseman Ivan Provorov was traded last offseason and Travis Sanheim spoke last offseason about replacing Ivan Provorov.
"Provy was an unbelievable defenseman, and he logged a lot of minutes. Somebody has to take those minutes," Sanheim said in training camp. "I want to be a guy that can step up, and kind of grab a hold of those opportunities. Obviously, that's going to be decided here in camp and into the season."

Obviously, Sanheim was up for the test and played incredibly well this past season.
Travis Sanheim was one of the most consistent defensemen this past season, as he was paired with Cam York in the top defensive unit. These two were the two best defenseman most of the year. For the Flyers, the best trade last offseason, may have been the one they did not make as they now have a top defenseman. Even with the fact the Flyers tried to trade Sanheim, Sanheim stated "I'm here today. There's a reason I signed here for eight years. I want to be in Philadelphia, I'm excited. I like the group that we have." Its great news that the Flyers have a top defenseman that wants to be here.
