The Philadelphia Flyers season got off to a great start and it seemed like, they would easily make the playoffs. Then came an eight-game losing streak which knocked them out of a playoff position. Even, with the eight-game losing streak, the Flyers can clinch the playoffs on Tuesday night in Philadelphia if everything goes right for them.
For the Flyers to clinch a playoff spot on Tuesday night, a lot needs to happen but it is not impossible. The Detroit Red Wings must lose in regulation on Monday night against the Montreal Canadiens. The Pittsburgh Penguins must lose in regulation to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. If both these scenarios happen, and the Washington Capitals defeat the Boston Bruins on Monday night then the Flyers must win in regulation against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.
However, if the Capitals lose Monday to the Bruins in any fashion, then the Flyers can defeat the Capitals, in regulation or overtime/shootout and clinch the playoffs, if the other two scenarios take place in the Flyers favor. No matter what happens, we will know by Wednesday night if the Flyers make the playoffs as that is the Pittsburgh Penguins last game of the regular season.
