Earlier this week, Sean Couturier switched agents and is now represented by Pat Brisson, who also represents several other Flyers. Flyers Nitty Gritty's Jamey Baskow believes that Sean Couturier's decision to switch agents may be connected to his former agent, Erik Lupien, speaking out against Couturier's benching. Per Jamey Baskow, "I gave it a day to let those sound off on Sean Couturier switching agents," Baskow wrote on social media on Wednesday. "My final thought is he switched agents because his agent publicly spoke about the benchings, and it obviously rubbed Couturier the wrong way. The agent should have just kept quiet, but he didn't."
Now, none of this is confirmed, and it is all speculation at this point, but it would not be shocking if Couturier did not like the fact that his agent spoke out. Sean Couturier and John Tortorella have both stated that this is now behind them, and we will see if Couturier can have a bounce back year this season and help the Flyers make the postseason for the first time in five years.
