Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella, during his presser after the game, stated only Ivan Fedotov played well during the 2nd period against the Islanders. The game on Monday night was huge for the Philadelphia Flyers as they were playing the New York Islanders who are chasing them in the standings and are now only 4 points behind the Flyers in the standings.

John Tortorella on Ivan Fedotov:

"He's the only god damn player who played well in the second period."

Wowza, what a solid NHL Debut for Ivan
Ivan Fedotov was thrust into duty in the 2nd period when Philadelphia Flyers starting goaltender Sam Ersson was pulled after the 1st period in a surprising move. The move appeared to pay off as Ivan Fedotov stopped 19 of the 20 shots, he faced in regulation which helped the Flyers get to overtime. This included his 2nd career save which was a breakaway attempt from New York Islanders' Matthew Bazal that Ivan Fedotov was able to make a glove save on. Overall, Ivan Fedotov stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced during the game.
We expected to see Ivan Fedotov play this year but not this soon as Sam Ersson was announced as the starting goalie against the Islanders. Good news for the Flyers is Ivan Fedotov did not look overmatched and that he belongs in the NHL. Even the 2 goals allowed, one was a deflection, and the other goal was a turnover in overtime, which allowed Brock Nelson to shoot on net unimpeded. Even with the loss, at least we can have confidence in this Flyers back up goalie that he could help the Flyers out in the last 6 games of the season.
