The 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship preliminary rounds have begun as they got under on Friday in Czechia. Flyers forward Joel Farabee is playing for team USA and Flyers goaltender Sam Ersson is playing for team Sweden.

Team Usa and Sweden played each other on Friday with Sweden winning the game 5-2. Joel Farabee registered 4 shots on goal and Sam Ersson served as the backup to Filip Gustavsson (Minnesota Wild).
Team USA defeated Germany, 6-1, on Saturday in Ostrava and Joel Farabee had 2 shots on goal in a winning cause. On Sunday, Sweden defeated Poland 5-1 and Ersson again served as the backup.
On May 23, single elimination will begin. The first-place teams from Group A and Group B will play the fourth-place team from the other group in the quarterfinal, meanwhile, the 2nd place teams will play the 3rd place teams. On May 25, the two semifinal games will be held in Prague, the next day will be the medal games.
