As the trade deadline approaches, the Philadelphia Flyers have themselves in an interesting position. Buyers, sellers, none of the above? With the success the Flyers have had, it will be interesting to see how quick or hesitant they are to pull the trigger on a trade.
One interesting aspect to the trade deadline comes when a team is desperate to fill a void due to an injury or whatever the case may be. After the Minnesota Wild made a major injury announcement on Friday night that could potentially put the Flyers in the trade mix.
Wild defensemen Jared Spurgeon is out for the rest of the year and will undergo both hip surgery and back surgery in the coming months. Spurgeon is out for the rest of the season and is expected to be back for training camp next summer.
With Minnesota on the hunt for a defenseman, will they be trying to pry Sean Walker from the Flyers hands? Walker has proved he can produce this season, pitching in 16 points on 11 assists. With a low, expiring contract, Walker seems like a fit for a team desperate like Minnesota.
