NHL fans across the league had been waiting for the first domino to fall regarding this years trade deadline season. As the league enters the month of February teams have mid doing assessments on their roster to see whether they want to put their chips in the middle to go on a run.
Tonight, there were trade shockwaves through the Western Conference as the Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks sent 2 prominent players to one another in a major blockbuster deal.
The Canucks have signaled to the NHL that they are going all in having acquired Elias Lindholm. And in return the flames are receiving a solid return for an unrestricted free agent in Andrei Kuzmenko, two prospects and two draft picks including the Canucks 2024 first rounder.

Kuzmenko had to waive the no trade clause in order to make this deal possible, he chose to as his time with the Canucks has come to an end with the poor play and the benching from head coach Rick Tocchet.
But the recent extension of Canucks GM Patrik Allvin, it's expected this team will continue to trade and stock up as they make a run for the Stanley Cup this year.
