When you look back over Philadelphia Flyers history, there is one recurring theme ever since Legend Ron Hextall left the Flyers: They need a Goalie. While the goalie carousel has been going round and round for the Flyers over the year, with players like Steve Mason, Ilya Bryzgalov, Robert Esche, and Michael Leighton to name a few. A few have had some success, when you look at Steve Mason, others have been disaster signings, like Ilya Bryzgalov.
Finally, Philadelphia drafted Goalie Carter Hart. Labeled as the future, he had a fantastic start to his career. He has been mired by some injuries, but very solid when healthy. Hart has been crippled by shoddy defense over the past two seasons, but now we are seeing what he can do with a competent defense that does not leave him out to dry every few minutes.
Even with the Bruins Goalies, Ersson and Hart have become one of the best duos in the league, they give the Flyers a chance to win every time they step on the ice. It is such an advantage for a team to have two goalies they can rely on; it also allows you not to overuse either one and keep both fresh. Once upon a time, the Flyers couldn't find the right goalie, now it seems they have found two!
