The Philadelphia Flyers faced off against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday night and it was the same old song and dance; the Flyers outplayed their opponent, failed to capitalize on quality scoring opportunities, and lost in overtime again.

1. Why?!
Why was Cam York languishing in the AHL for a quarter of the season, when the Flyers have been struggling tremendously to create offense?

Must read on FlyersInsider

Defensively, York has excellent gap control and does a tremendous job of keeping himself on the proper side of the puck. York rarely gets beat one on one because of his edge work and always keeps himself wedged between his goalie and the offensive player.
York also picks his spots well in joining the offense and transitions quickly. His mobility and vision will be an asset in creating offense, something the Flyers desperately need.
Cam York belongs in the NHL!
2. Sin City:
Both Carter Hart and Adin Hill were guilty of a little loose play in Vegas and committed cardinal sins.
Carter Hart turned a relatively routine point shot into an adventure, as it caromed off his chest and eluded his glove prior to hitting the ice.
Adin Hill countered Hart's hiccup with a brain cramp. Scott Laughton didn't press Hill on the forecheck and backed off, taking away Hill's outlet. Hill seemed adamant to make the play despite the coverage and telegraphed a pass onto Laughton's blade. Laughton wisely threw the puck into Hill's feet, either in an attempt to hope for a tap in from out front or a bank shot. Fortunately for the Flyers the puck got tangled in Hill's skate and he hooked the puck into the net on his retreat back into the paint.
3. Monster Kill:
With 2:56 seconds left in the third period and the score deadlocked at 1's, Noah Cates picked up a tripping penalty 180 feet from his own goal and his body language after the whistle told you all you needed to know. Cates put the team in jeopardy.
The Flyers PK bailed out the rookie on an impressive penalty kill. Vegas mishandled the puck for a split second on the wall and the Flyers forwards took over. Patrick Brown, Laughton, and Travis Konecny combined to rag the clock and chew up valuable time in the Golden Knights zone, before Vegas was able to make a late entry and setup for one quality scoring chance that Hart made a phenomenal save on.
The Flyers were 2 for 2 on the penalty kill and picked up the penalties of the game.
4. Can't Buy An OT Win:
The chances were there. Konecny and Sanheim had great looks. Noah Cates looked like he had some room to shot midway through overtime, but held on to the puck and skated it behind the net. Konecny again had a quality opportunity in the slot to shoot, but committed to a pass early that was easily detected and picked off. Then disaster; Kevin Hayes dangled one defender in the neutral zone, entered the slot and made a tape to tape feed to Jonathan Marchessault.
It wasn't the result the Flyers wanted to open up their road trip, but they have a golden opportunity to get back into the win column when they visit Arizona on Sunday.
Hopefully the Flyers offense can offer support for Carter Hart, it's a shame to waste saves like this!
