Two weeks away from the 2022 NHL Draft in Montreal, the Daily Faceoff examines the needs and focuses for all 32 NHL teams. Specifically, system needs for the Philadelphia Flyers.

For the Flyers it's simple. We simply cannot afford to mess up yet another top 10 pick. According to Chris Peters, what the Flyers should be looking for in Montreal is a top 2 center.
"The Flyers are going to have their pick of the second-tier centers or top-tier defensemen in this draft at No. 5. It gives them their best shot at addressing a key need in the system that just hasn't been adequately addressed in recent years", he wrote.

As mentioned previously, GM Chuck Fletcher will have to choose between taking a bonafide stud on defence or address a positional need. In many cases, it's mostly better to take the best player available. But if the Flyers can move down in the draft while recuperating assets, Fletcher's decision may come a bit easier.

Yet, the need for a top center has never been more urgent for this team. Players such as Logan Cooley, Shane Wright, Cutter Gauthier, Matthew Savoie have scouts all salivating at their potential.
"There have been a few players that looked great, but the Flyers are in need of a future top-two center and they can get it early in this draft."

The bigger question is this. Do the Flyers take the best player available, which will be a defenseman or risk the fifth pick on a positional solution?
