Atkinson on Giroux: "It's been an honor to get to know him"

In a recent press conference interview, Flyers forward Cam Atkinson spoke about Claude Giroux as if he had already left the team.

According to Charlie O'Connor, Flyers writer for The Athletic, Atkinson says it has been an honor getting to know Giroux. Insinuating that the goodbyes have already been said.
"He's the heart and soul of this team, the heart and soul of this organization. It's been an honor to get to know him."

Since his trade to Philly which sent Jakub Voráček to Columbus, Atkinson has 17 goals, 20 assists for 37 points through 51 games. Atkinson has also gotten close with Giroux and has a good relationship off-ice.
Here is a photo of the pair with their wives enjoying a cheesesteak together.
"He's been .... ok [...] Seems like he breaks a record every other day... top three, maybe top two I've played with," reports Giana Han, Flyers beat reporter for inquirer.com.
Atkinson's comments come three weeks ahead of the NHL deadline and half a month before Giroux is set to play his 1000th NHL game.
