Claude Giroux is set to play his 1000th NHL game at home vs. the Nashville Predators later this month. A career Flyer since his draft, the captain has given all he has to the team and fanbase. In his "32 Thoughts" segment on Sportsnet, analyst Elliotte Friedman notes that although Giroux would love to play his 1000th game at home in a Flyers jersey, it is not his top priority.

«Claude Giroux's 1,000th game as a Flyer would be at home March 17 versus Nashville (knock on wood). I think he'd like to get there, but it's not a dealbreaker if something comes up beforehand».
Drafted 22nd overall in the 2006 NHL draft, Giroux ranks third in his draft class in points (trailing only Nick Backstrom and Phil Kessel), with 896 points in 991 games played.

As the deadline approaches on Mar. 21, his 1000th milestone is still likely to happen with the Flyers but it is not a must. Friedman cites Giroux's recent press conference interviews as indicators of stress and a wanting to get it over with.
«His media conference last week was a reminder of how this time stresses out people. You just want it to be over, but I don't sense anything imminent».

We must remind ourselves that Giroux loves the Flyers and the team immensely. His wife loves it in Philly and his kids do too. Spending fourteen years in one city is a long time and it is certain he's been going through a mix of feelings these past two months. As his 1000th game approaches, so does his inevitable farewell.
The Flyers take on the Washington Capitals tomorrow at 12:30 ET which will be Giroux's 992nd NHL game.
