Big news coming out of the Sunshine State today, as reports have surfaced claiming the Panthers have decided to part ways with head coach Andrew Brunette in order to sign former Jets coach Paul Maurice.
"Florida. Jack Adams finalist, Andrew Brunette is out as head coach. Paul Maurice is believed to be in the process of being hired."
The news comes as a shocker as Brunette was a finalist for the Jack Adams (coach of the season) at the NHL awards.
Brunette recently replaced Joel Quenneville early this season and helped the team to the Presidents' Trophy. The Panthers were later disposed of by the Tampa Bay Lightning but not before making it past the Caps in round one.
Maurice, on the other hand, stepped down as coach of the Winnipeg Jets in December after deciding the situation no longer suited his ambitions and philosophy.

Maurice is expected to sign a 3-year deal while reports suggest Brunette has no intentions to stay within the organization. He may have felt unwanted.
And so just as the coaching carousel got smaller, it just added another big name to the pot.
Should the Flyers look into hiring Brunette as an assistant or will Tortorella have the final say?
