In the past 72 hours, the Flyers have become front and central to all hockey news. First, with the breaking news of Chuck Fletcher being relieved of his duties as general manager and president.
Comcast Spectacor CEO Dave Scott has been the chairman, CEO and governor of the Flyers for several years. He was responsible for hiring Chuck Fletcher and other GMs in recent memory. There have been rumours circulating that he is planning to step down or retire from the job.
According to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, he believes that this will occur this summer and that Dan Hilferty will be his replacement.
Certainly, the Flyers need to continue this reconstruction of their management team along with their hockey team and sometimes change is good and a new voice is necessary.
