Ryan Ellis, once a top defenseman known for solid play on both ends, has battled injuries, hindering his recent NHL appearances.

Philadelphia Flyers' President of Hockey Operations, Keith Jones, suggests that Ellis may have played his last game due to a torn psoas muscle in his back.
#Flyers President of Hockey Operations Keith Jones told reporters today that D Ryan Ellis has a torn psoas muscle in his back, and has likely played his last NHL game.

Jones when asked about a surgical option for Ellis:

"I think that he's exhausting everything that he can in order to play, like we all do. You never want to have the void of not doing something that you'd love to do. He did it very effectively when he played so it's got to be really difficult."

In his career with the Predators and Flyers, Ellis amassed 275 points in 566 games. If this is indeed the end, it's a premature conclusion for a talented player whose potential was cut short by unfortunate injuries.
