The NHL Player Association was established in 1957 with the goals of assisting players in setting up pension plans and ensuring that the right athletes were being compensated appropriately.

The NHL Players Association is currently being sued for failing to record sufficient income, which resulted in paying players less, questioning... where did that money go!?. Rick Westhead of TSN has revealed the following:
Former NHLPA consultant Richard Rodier has filed a $100M lawsuit against his former employer, alleging it misused his confidential info to pursue claims that NHL teams underreported revenue, which allowed them to pay players less money.

Richard Rodier, who once worked with Jim Balsillie to try and buy an NHL team, alleges in a new lawsuit that NHLPA officials inappropriately used confidential information he provided to the union.
There will undoubtedly be considerable second-guessing from many present and past players if Richard Rodier wins this lawsuit.
