Over the past several years, hockey has surpassed many predictions to become more popular than ever while bringing diversity to the sport.

Numerous hockey leagues continue to work toward increasing diversity toward various communities, especially the LGTBQ community. Unfortunately, there is bad in everything good.
The Kalamazoo Wings, an ECHL team that is an affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, has opted to paint their rink in the colours of the rainbow flag and host a game there.

The Kalamazoo Wings played the Peoria Riverman, an affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, in their first game on painted ice. Following the contest, the Blues' affiliated fforward Louie Rowe tweeted something utterly unnecessary:
I knew the Kwings were soft but I didn't know they were gay, trans and soft.
The player has been removed from the team until further notice.
