The Philadelphia Flyers have made a move, announcing that they have secured defenseman Egor Zamula for another year. The club's Interim General Manager, Daniel Briere, revealed that Zamula has signed a one-year contract extension worth $775,000.
Zamula, a 23-year-old hailing from Chelyabinsk, Russia, had an interesting season with the Flyers, collecting four assists in 14 games. He also made a significant impact in Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League (AHL), where he recorded 19 points (1-18=19), 14 penalty minutes (PIM), and 64 shots in 44 contests.
The left-shot skater had a memorable moment in October 2022 when he tallied his first NHL point with an assist against Tampa Bay. He followed this up in March 2023 by recording his first career multi-point game with two assists against Florida. During the regular season, he ranked third in assists and T-3rd in scoring among team defensemen and was fourth on the Phantoms with nine power-play assists (PPA).
Unfortunately, Zamula missed the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs due to a left-shoulder injury. However, he underwent successful surgery on April 10 and is expected to make a full recovery in time for training camp this September.
