The War on Ukraine may have cost the Flyers a prospect for good.
When the War on Ukraine broke out in February of last year, numerous NHL teams were worried about their Russian prospects and current players as the Russian government and their military were looking for soldiers were eligible to be placed in battle.
A few players on the NHL's rosters didn't make it back to North America to play this season and disappeared into the Russian military.
One such player in question is
Ivan Fedotov.
Fedotov was drafted by the Flyers in the 2015 NHL draft in the seventh round 188 choice overall. As one of their goaltender prospects, he stands at 6 foot 6, 191 pounds at the age of 26.

It appears that he will be playing for the Russian armed forces league for now and that he is expected to stay with the KHL afterwards and play with them for the rest of their career.
This does not bode well for the Flyers as I'm sure they were expecting him to become a prospect for their goaltender ranks.
This situation remains fluid, an NHL organization will have to see if any Russian players will attempt to go home this summer, which I doubt they will.
