After a prolonged process, the Ottawa Senators' ownership saga has reached its conclusion.
The NHL faced criticism for the delay caused by multiple dropped bids and the departures of Snoop Dogg and Ryan Reynolds.
However, the team's board of directors has now selected an owner deemed the most suitable. Toronto's Michael Andlauer, who currently holds a 10% stake in the Montreal Canadiens, will reportedly acquire a controlling interest in the Senators franchise for approximately $1 billion.
The purchase is subject to approval from the NHL Board of Governors. Andlauer's existing ties with the board are expected to facilitate a smooth transition as the Melnyk family steps away from the team.
