The Montreal Canadiens Canadiens have have been strategically trying to rebuild the franchise after the disastrous 2021-22 season finishing in last place in the NHL with a 22-49-11 record the worst ever by the Canadiens.

Since being named the new General Manager Kent Hughes has made some bold decisions like trading away fan favorite Defenseman Alex Romanov, and drafting Juraj Slafkovsky over who many believed the number one pick should of been Shane Wright.

Unfortunately for Hughes the Canadiens are up against the salary cap and still haven't singed center Kirby Dach aswell as need to make room to fit newly acquired center Sean Monahan in the roster also so some trades are still going to have to be made before the regular season.
