Brière could be the deciding factor in Giroux's trade

Claude Giroux is probably leaving Philadelphia this season. While nothing has been assured, Colorado Avalanche are the keenest on signing «G», but he may yet change his mind and go elsewhere or even stay in the City of Brotherly love.
If that happens, Flyers fans will need to thank Danny Brière, who is apparently playing a key part in Claude Giroux's trade discussion.
Mostly because he is special assistant to GM Chuck Fletcher and so he needs to interact with the player to sort out what he can get out of this deal, but also as an advisor to Giroux. It is no secret that they're close and they've been for a long time: Giroux and his family lived with Danny Brière in 2011.
It remains to be seen whether Danny Brière is trying to convince Giroux to stay in Philadelphia or to advise him objectively on where he should go next. It is a though decision for the captain after so many years in the Black & Orange jersey and Brière knows exactly how hard it is.
Still, Giroux 1000th game would be against the Nashville Predators at home on March 17th, just 3 days before trade deadline so everything is possible regarding his trade.
