Players fighting after a clean hit appears to be the main problem contributing to the NHL's softness in many ways this season specifically.
Clean hits five years ago would never draw any attention, and today no matter how clean of a hit it is, it's likely causing a fight.

Dryden Hunt of the Colorado Avalanche delivered a clean hit to Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak, which caused Bruins Tomas Nosek to drop the gloves. Nosek must have instantly regretted it as it lead to him being knocked out..
I do not agree with the NHL pushing to remove fighting from the game of hockey, but if it resulted in bigger punishments handed out to players fighting after clean hits, i wouldn't be mad whatsoever.
