In a recent appearance on the Missin Curfew Podcast with former NHL players Shane O'Brien and Scottie Upshall, legendary NHL defenseman Chris Pronger shared a story that would make anyone's blood boil. It involved his close teammate and iconic NHL goaltender, Grant Fuhr, and a potential million-dollar bonus hanging in the balance.

Both Pronger and Fuhr were playing for the St. Louis Blues at the time, and Pronger had a significant $1 million bonus riding on his plus-minus rating for the season. He had made this bonus known to all his teammates before the game began. However, it seemed that Fuhr wasn't taking the situation as seriously as Pronger.
Pronger recounted the incident, saying,
"Arguably one of the worst puck-playing goalies of all time, terrible with the puck." He continued, "I go back into the corner, and I'm like, 'Fuhrsy, Fuhrsy!' and then boom! He smokes me in the chest with the puck."

Despite the high stakes and Pronger's serious intentions, Fuhr's reaction was anything but. Pronger explained, "You can always see him laughing. You can see his head bobbing up and down, and he's laughing in the net... he's just giving me grief."
For most people, losing a million dollars due to a teammate's actions would be infuriating. Pronger's story showcases the lighter side of the game and the camaraderie that often exists among teammates, even in high-stakes situations.
