It's impossible to ignore the pressure that is being placed on Chuck Fletcher, the general manager of one of the most highly regarded teams in the NHL, to make a change or a trade to help the team out of this terrible season. With a 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders in first of back-to-back games, the team is winless in 10 games.

A series of forward-line injuries have plagued the team over the past few weeks. Many of the players have been placed on injured reserve in which their cap hit cannot be used in a trade because they will return to the lineup. Another issue facing the team, it's stuck at 50 contracts which happens to be the limit for all teams, which means the waiver wire is off-limits.

Normally, NHL teams do not make large moves at this point in the season due to cap constraints and trying to figure out where they fit into the playoff race. To me, Fletcher's hands are tied at the moment, and he needs to wait until closer to the March 3rd trade deadline to make any large moves.

Although, as mentioned last year, when faced with this same issue, CEO Dave Scott gave Fletcher a blank check to reorganize the team. His performance has not been up to the task, and he deserves to be reevaluated once this season is over. Connor Bedard ... anyone??
