Chuck Fletcher: "We were never in on Gaudreau"

When asked if he was in the Johnny Gaudreau sweepstakes, he said : "We were not involved in the Johnny Gaudreau sweepstakes."

When asked why, he simply claimed that the team did not have the cap space to make such a deal happen and he would have had to move too many contracts and guys who could help the team later on to make it happen.

Fletcher also said that he indeed did speak to other teams about potentially moving the 5th overall pick but eventually reiterated that the 5th overall pick this year was worth a lot more than a second round pick.

He believes the team will be a lot more competitive this year. Especially having stored up on defencemen and a power play quarterback.
