The idea of rebuilding the Flyers had never been in management's eyes, neither had ownership. Over the years and decades, the Flyers have always relied on free agency and signing former draft picks from other teams to cobble a team together to compete for a Stanley Cup.
After firing Chuck Fletcher, the former general manager, and president of hockey operations, Flyers ownership felt that a rebuild of the team was necessary as the current configuration was old, outdated, and unable to compete.
Once Danny Briere had the reins and the full-time job, he began a partial dismantling of the roster by moving
Ivan Provorov,
Kevin Hayes, along Tony DeAngelo.
However, numerous fans and other pundits wonder if Briere is fully committed to a true rebuild by moving star players to other teams to recoup draft picks and prospects.

Rebuilds are never easy, and there's no right way to do it as teams are in various states of development and a deepening prospect pool. I expect this team to continue to debate with itself on who to move out and what the market looks like in terms of trades and value.
If by chance Briere decides to move players like TK, Walker, or Hart, then we have a full demolition of the organization, and fans will need to wait several years longer to even secure a playoff spot.
