So, a lot of people asked why the Flyers couldn't get more for Claude Giroux.

The big part of it is that Giroux only wanted to be traded to the Florida Panthers. From here, Fletcher's hands were tied as Panthers' GM Bill Zito had all the power in the negotiations.
Zito wasn't going to make an enormous offer. He knew that the Flyers were pretty much forced to deal with the situation, and thus to accept the offer he made.
But the question is, why did Giroux not give more options to the Flyers? Even Daniel Brière asked him to do so but the former Flyers captain refused.

According to what was said on the Snow the Goalie podcast, Claude Giroux asked Chuck Fletcher assurance that he'll be back with the team this summer. Fletcher said no. Knowing that, Giroux would only agree to waive his NMC to go to Florida.
That is not a good look for Fletcher. Obviously, there is still a possibility that Giroux could come back this summer, but I wonder if this event has deteriorated the relationship between the two sides.
