Daniel Brière could take the GM position sooner than you think

The Flyers were close to lose Daniel Brière last month. Fortunately for them, the Canadiens decided to hire Kent Hughes as their GM, but Brière was highly considered for the position until the end of the hiring process.
Not much later, Brière took the special assistant to the GM position in Philadelphia. And when you think about it, it's just a matter of time for him to become the big boss.
He will be very much involved in the deadline trades this season, so he's going to begin to put his fingerprints on the team.
However, Brière could be named GM sooner than you think...

To be honest, Chuck Fletcher's tenure with the Flyers didn't go as planned. He made some questionnable trades (he gave too much for Ristolainen and the Ryan Ellis move backfired pretty quickly), and the Flyers could just wait for Brière to be ready to step up.
The Flyers are in a "rebuild mode". It would be preferable to take this direction with a new GM, and Fletcher may leave this summer to make room for Brière.
