That's interesting, to say the least.

Claude Giroux complicates the work of his GM Chuck Fletcher. At first, four teams (the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins) made an offer that Fletcher was considering. However, he has been forced to turn down a deal with the Bruins and the Rangers because Giroux didn't want to be traded to these teams.
All of this ensured that only two teams are in the race to acquire the Flyers captain. But also, it gives them more power in their negotiations with Philadelphia.
Recently, the Panthers made an offer to the Flyers, but Fletcher wants more for Giroux and they couldn't reach to an agreement. Florida isn't showing interest in upgrading their offer.

Then, there's the Avalanche, who reportedly made a better offer but Fletcher can't accept it because Giroux don't want to go there. Considering that, Special Assistant to the GM Daniel Brière asked Claude Giroux to give more teams, in order to get a deal done, and obviously for the Flyers to obtain the best return possible.
We'll see where things go, but Giroux should give the Flyers more options. Their hands are tied at the moment because Giroux doesn't seem willing to budge on his idea to go to Florida.
