As we approach August, Derek Stepan remains on the lookout for a new team. However, there's some interest building around the 33-year-old, with the Anaheim Ducks and Philadelphia Flyers both showing interest in the veteran.

The Ducks have ample cap space and need to reach the salary cap floor before the season begins. With a need for reinforcement in their bottom six, Stepan seems like a viable option for them.
Meanwhile, the Flyers are in a rebuilding phase and are eager to add more leadership to guide their young players. While Stepan may not be a high-impact forward anymore, he could still provide a solid boost to the Flyers' fourth line at a league-minimum $850,000 contract, about 3x less than what Nic Deslauriers makes.
As the 2023-24 season approaches, we'll have to wait and see if either the Ducks or the Flyers finalize a deal with Stepan.
