Defensemen Bawls His Eyes Out As His Family Cheers Him On During Interview

Alex Goligoski, a defenseman for the Minnesota Wild, celebrated playing in his 1,000th NHL game Thursday night when his team was playing the�Carolina Hurricanes.
For the 37-year-old defenseman, who has played in 1,002 NHL games and has amassed 420 points, it was undoubtedly a memorable game, but it was also troubling.
Goligoski has played in just six games so far this season and has been the odd man out of the Minnesota Wild's lineup in twelve of the team's 18 games. In his statement, Goligoski said, "It has been my most disappointing season in my seventeen years in the NHL."

The defenseman receiving the silver stick, a prize only a select handful can claim after reaching the 1,000-game mark, was the game's highlight, but the actual highlight was his overtime game-winning goal, which you can watch here with his family cheering.
