As many NHL fans are aware, Brian Burke, the former general manager of teams like the Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, Maple Leafs, and Hartford Whalers, has always appreciated a good bout in an NHL match.

Throughout his tenure as a general manager, Burke consistently ensured his teams were equipped to defend themselves, exhibit robust physicality, and fight for victory on the ice.
In recent times, the NHL has been shifting away from the emphasis on fighting, embracing smaller players with heightened skill levels and impressive speed.
NHL Breakers featured an Instagram post with an interview featuring Brian Burke, delving into the potential decline of fighting in the NHL.

It's no surprise that Burke holds this stance, considering he's been a fervent advocate for fighting's place in the game.
I personally believe fighting still holds value in hockey, especially when opposing players exploit rookies or star players who are better known for their scoring prowess than their fighting skills.
The ongoing debate between supporters and critics of fighting is likely to endure for years to come. However, I don't envision fighting ever completely disappearing from the game.
