Flyers fans have been asking for Gaudreau to return where he belongs for a long time: in Philadelphia. And the summer to come would've been the best moment for the forward to sign a contract with the team, as Gaudreau is set to become an UFA at the end of the season.
However, in an interview with a Canadian radio station, Flames assistant general manager, Craig Conroy, just absolutely crushed Flyers fans' biggest dream. He basically said that the extension of Gaudreau could be considered as a "done deal".
Honestly, I don't trust him a lot. It may be true, but I think will depend a lot of how things will go for the Flames in the playoffs.
This season, Gaudreau scored 64 points in 49 games. He is in the last year of his contract, and will definitely get a big pay raise this summer.
