With the coaching situation settled, fans may finally have a key question answered. That is which direction does Chuck Fletcher intend to bring this franchise.

Let's get the obvious out of the way. John Tortorella is not a coach you bring in with intentions to tank. He is the win now coach and has that confidence in himself that he can turn this ship around. Torts also has the full support of the management.
Darren Dreger, insider for TSN went on The Instigators podcast and had some big updates about the Flyers.
Dreger says that the Flyers didn't bring in John Tortorella in on a 4-year deal to rebuild and tank for Connor Bedard. In contrary, he expects Fletcher to "swing for the fences" in free agency and at the draft. He will try to hit a couple of home runs.

This has led some people to speculate that the fifth overall pick is a trade asset that the Flyers are willing to part ways with.
Free agency is just four weeks away and the main name swirling around is Johnny Gaudreau. Dreger says he checked in with the Flames and said that not a lot is going on there.
He was not given update but says there's a good amount of back & forth between both sides. Lastly, Dreger would be shocked if Gaudreau doesn't test the open market to make a deal happen.
