Currently, the Philadelphia Flyers find themselves facing a bit of a logjam when it comes to their goaltending depth. Carter Hart holds the number one position on the depth chart, but there are several other goalies in their system creating a crowded situation.

Sam Ersson and Felix Sandstrom were given opportunities in the NHL last season to showcase their skills and prove their worth to the Flyers' management.
Adding to the complexity is the trade that brought Cal Petersen to the Flyers from the Los Angeles Kings in a three-way deal. Despite all of this, the Flyers had high hopes for Ivan Fedotov, a Russian goalie who had encountered controversy after being caught draft dodging and subsequently sent to Siberia to fulfill his one-year requirement for Russian military duty.
Throughout that time, numerous reports speculated on whether Fedotov would join the Flyers next season. However, it now appears that this is no longer the case. According to the CSKA's president, it seems that Fedotov's contract with the Flyers expired in 2023 and was not renewed or extended. Instead, he has decided to sign with CSKA Moscow.
On a positive note, Danny Briere, the new general manager of the Flyers, is actively working to address the team's goaltending situation. Ongoing rumours are suggesting that Carter Hart may be traded, Briere positioned himself securing Petersen if a Hart trade can be made to bolster the team's rebuild efforts.
