The Flyers head coach saying this is one of the most Special Teams he has coached is really putting his team in high esteem. Rember this is a coach that has coached over 20 years, won a Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and has been with teams for many more years than he's been with these Flyers. Tortorella apparently sees what the fans have seen as well, how special this young group of talented players really is. They are never out of games (made apparent by their almost comeback against the Avalanche on Friday night), they work hard, they play hard, they majority of the time outplay their opponent.
In order to play in Tort's system, you need to skate, grind and work every second of every shift, and he has this group of young players and some seasoned vets buying into his system hook, line and sinker. Gone should be the days of people saying that Torts can't coach young guys, because we are seeing it every night. He has taken this group of players that had zero expectations preseason and made them into real contenders this season, and it should only get better from here!
