A suspension was imposed on Ivan Fedotov in the aftermath of the current contract scandal between the KHL and NHL as pertains to the Philadelphia Flyers tolling of Fedotov's contract.

It was meant to be a motivation for Fedotov to come to Philadelphia in order to play for the Flyers instead of CSKA Moscow in the KHL. Currently, Fedotov is suspended from playing until January as a result of the decision made by the IIHF.

There is no doubt that Fedotov is committed to playing hockey and has refuted the IIHF's ruling that his deal with Philadelphia is valid by saying that he will not cease to do so.
This seems to be yet another shot across the bow of both the NHL and the IIHF, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months.
Fedotov continues to play hockey, and we are certain that the IIHF will escalate its actions, while the KHL and Russian hockey will continue to ignore everything else that is happening.
There is no way of knowing what will happen since Fedotov is playing in flagrant violation of the rules of the IIHF. Is there a motivation for either party to follow the rules of the IIHF if he is sanctioned and Russia is frozen out of it?
In the event that the IIHF is able to restore contact between the two leagues, perhaps a deflationary approach will be taken, until then the situation will remain the same.
