The Philadelphia Flyers are on the hunt for a president of hockey operations, and Charlie O'Connor of The Athletic has shared some insight into what the team is looking for in a candidate. The Flyers aim to have a president of hockey operations who can lead their management team, while general manager Daniel Briere continues to gain experience in his role. To fill this important vacancy, the team is seeking a candidate with extensive experience, excellent communication skills, and a sharp hockey mind.

According to O'Connor, several potential candidates are being considered, including Ray Shero, Doug Wilson, Scott Mellanby, and Dave Poulin.
Scott Mellanby is a new name that's surfaced, and is sure disliked by many for his on-ice antics back in the day.
Shero's resume includes decades of experience in assistant general manager, general manager, and senior advisor roles, dating back to 1993. His father, Fred Shero, famously coached the Flyers to their two Stanley Cup wins. Wilson served as the general manager of the San Jose Sharks for nearly two decades, giving him ample experience in this type of role. Mellanby has been working in front offices since 2012 and was a former player for the Flyers. Poulin, on the other hand, brings a wealth of experience from working as the Toronto Maple Leafs' vice president of hockey operations for five seasons and working as an analyst for various games.
The Flyers are looking for someone who can communicate effectively with season ticket holders and fans while also helping Briere grow into his role. With such high-profile candidates being considered, it will be interesting to see who ultimately takes on this crucial role for the organization.
