As many who have read my articles already know, I have repeatedly stated that Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers has proven to be one of the best goalies they've seen in recent memory. Time after time, watching the games and witnessing his bouts of brilliance, it becomes evident that he is the backbone of the organization, and this assertion is certainly not an overstatement.

I firmly believe that a successful team should build its foundation around a quality starting goaltender, and the Flyers are fortunate to have Hart in this role. It would be a tough sell to move on from him, given his skill and importance to the team's success.
However, the Flyers face a crucial decision within the next 10 months regarding Hart's future. As they take their time contemplating whether to keep him or explore other options, his trade value will continue to fluctuate.

Currently, Hart is under contract until the end of this season, with a cap hit of 3.97 million dollars. Afterward, he will become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights.
Given Hart's affordable cap hit and his young age of 25, numerous teams
would be interested in trading for him. He continues to show great promise, providing teams with cost certainty in the goaltending position.
Additionally, several other teams' starting goalies have expressed their lack of desire to remain with their current organizations, causing the goalie market to be flooded and potentially driving down Hart's trade value.
In my opinion, the Flyers should decide to retain Hart's services for the long term and offer him the contract extension he rightfully deserves.
Furthermore, the Flyers must assess their other goaltenders within the system and consider shedding contracts that do not contribute to their rebuilding phase. This includes making decisions on players like TK, who will become an unrestricted free agent after the next season.
Considering the Flyers' history of goaltending struggles, I strongly advocate for the team to be in lockstep with Hart and secure him as their long-term goalie for the foreseeable future. With him guarding the net, the Flyers can aim for a brighter and more successful period ahead.
